I am sure you know about the Golden Rule

Treat others the way you want to be treated.

This rule is omnipresent. It is mentioned in various religious texts. It’s our philosophy built-in by social values and teaching of our parents-teachers. This is a widely accepted rule, this promotes equality. You cannot go wrong with this one; could You?

If you think a bit more about the Golden Rule; it is self-centric. It does not push you to know about the other person. Did you never come across situations where you felt that your needs were not addressed? It was because the other person did not know you enough. They generalized their treatment or based it on what made them happy. But people are not the same. Everyone is unique. Equality and Fairness both are not the same. One size does not fit all. Still, we are not letting go of the Golden Rule.

When you use your emotional intelligence and do not limit yourself to what you like; instead you focus a bit more on the others; then you go beyond the Gold. You enter the Platinum Rule zone.
This rule is about respecting the uniqueness of individuals and providing them fair treatment, a treatment that suits them and helps them to grow. This rule is about getting to know a bit more about others. It won’t be easy; just like getting Platinum out of the Earth is not. It needs efforts and it will take time.
With the slight variation to the Golden rule; The Platinum Rule is,

Treat others the way they want to be treated.

The Platinum Rule is helpful to build strong relationships. When you put effort to know how the other person thinks, what the other person wants; You can make them happy. Happy people mean a happy workplace and increased productivity. You can support their growth and they will, in turn, support your business vision.
